The 4th event of the season was for the Captain's Trophy which this year was played at Ashton-under-Lyne. There were 18 society members and three guests playing. One of the guests was Andy Kelson whoe name appears a number of time on a lot of the trophies. It was a very hot sunny afternoon, being the hottest day ever recorded for the UK. Gareth very kindly presented everyone with a goodybag containing snacks and water. It was definitely a day when lots of water was needed to prevent dehydration.
Overall winner The overall winner was Paul Higgs with 38 points off a handicap of 13. This was a tremendous result for Paul who has just recently been recovering from surgery. It is nice to see him back playing golf so well, and we hope that he remains well for the future.
Division 1 The division split was at 19, and the winner of Division 1 was Hamish MacKay with 34 points off a reduced handicap of 11.
Division 2 Division 2 was won by new member Ray Roberts with 31 points off a handicap of 22.

There were twos for Paul Higgs at the fourth, and Mark Saxon at the sixteenth.
2018 Plate Winner
Paul Higgs and Nigel Harris completed the final of the 2018 plate competition during the afternoon. Paul Higgs was the eventual winner.
