Chapel-en-le-Frith - 22nd September 2011

The final event of the 2011 season was for the Peter MurphyTrophy played over 18 holes stableford off full handicap atChapel-en-le-Frith Golf Club. This event is open to all ICL employies not just society members.There are no society handicap reductions for this event, and everyone plays off their full club handicap. The Peter Murphy Trophy does not count towards the Order of Merit.

In keeping with all the other events this year we had a very good attendance, and the weather was sunny albeit a little windy.

Winners

Gareth Perry - Overall Winner Overall winner
The overall winner was Gareth Perry  with an extraordinary score of 45 points off a handicap of 18. This was 9 points better than the next best score.

Division 1 winner
The division split was at 18, and the winner of Division 1 was Tim Whitehead with 36 points off a  handicap of 13.

The Division 1 second place was won by Ron Sloane with 36 points off a handicap of 18.

Mike Hughes - Division 2 winner

The winner of Division 2 was Mike Hughes with 36 points off a  handicap of 19.
Mark Saxon - Divison 2 second Division 2 second place
The Division 2 second place was won by Mark Saxon with 34 points off a handicap of 19.

There was only one 2 for Mr Captain.

The nearest the pin winner was Brendon Poynts. Unfortunately for Brendon the ball pitched quite close to the hole and then screwed back a few feet and so the birdie putt was missed.

 Longest drive.
The choice of hole for the longest drive proved somewhat controversial. On the 11th hole at Chapel the ladies red tee is more than 30 yards behind the yellow tee.
