Bury - 28th September 2012

This competition was for the final event of the season, The Peter MurphyTrophy played over 18 holes stableford off full handicap at Bury Golf Club. This event is open to all ICL employees not just society members. There are no society handicap reductions for this event, and everyone plays off their full club handicap. The Peter Murphy Trophy does not count towards the Order of Merit.

Attendance was not as high as other events this season but we had 22 players including guests. The weather was mixed but the early starters avoided the rain. There was an interesting new unmarked water hazard on the 9th which was the result of the deluge suffered earlier in the week.

The 4th hole was  chosen for a variation on the longest drive. The winner was the person who hit his drive nearest a line drawn in the middle of the fairway. Andy Millington was the winner. Apparently he was driving wonderfully long and straight all round, and would have probably won if it had been longest drive.
