Aston-in-Makerfield - 13th July 2010
The fourth event of the 2010 season was for the
Captain's Trophy played over 18 holes at Ashton-in-Makerfield Golf Club. This
was a stableford competition off full handicap. The weather held until late afternoon, with the
early players just finishing as it started to rain.
The overall winner was Cliff
Hacking who was playing in his first society event for a number of years. He
recorded a remarkable 41 points off a handicap
of 27.
The division split was at 18 and below for division 1. The Division 1 winner was
this year's captain Andy Millington with a very respectable 40 points off a
handicap of 18.
The division 2 winner was Paul MacDonald with 37 points off a handicap of
20.
The longest drive was won by Brendan Poynts, and the nearest the
pin by Peter Wharton.
There were 2 players recording 2's, Peter
Wharton and Andy Kelson. Both of these were recorded at the 15th which was the
nearest the pin hole.
The morning competition was a stableford over 9
holes with teams of three in which 1 score was taken on first three holes 2 on
the next three and all three counted on the last three. The winners were Andy
Millington, Cliff Hacking and Tom Kinahan with 37 points.
