Chapel-en-le-Frith - 24th August 2010
This year the sixth and final event counting to the Order
of Merit was for the Guy Ferguson Trophy held
at Chapel-en_le Frith Golf Club.
The morning weather was atrocious, and at 2:00 p.m. it looked as though it was going
to continue. However within a few minutes the weather changed dramatically, and
after an early short shower remained dry for the rest of the afternoon. The strong wind stayed with us and made for very difficult scoring.
The overall winner
was Mike Budd with 34 points off a handicap of 17.
Division 1 winner was Paul Higgs with 33 points playing
off 10, and Tom Kinahan took the division 2 prize with 26 points off a reduced handicap
of 25.
The longest drive was won by Tim Whitehead and the
nearest the pin by Ian Vernon.
There were no twos.
This event decided the Order of Merit, and Andy Kelson
just managed to pip Andy Millington and Paul Higgs to win. Andy Kelson finished on 15 points
whilst Andy Millington and Paul Higgs
had 17. Paul did remarkably well
considering he only managed to
compete in 4 events.
